Join MarMar this Saturday, September 11th from 3 to 6 p.m. as she hosts artist and metalsmith Amelia Messec of Amelia Jane Designs. This one-day event will include a meet-and-greet and attendees can view the designer’s current work. Light snacks and beverages will be served.
Amelia Jane Designs uses gemstones and metal to create a playful relationship between the materials. The contrast of color and texture excite her. She draws inspiration from her surroundings – whether it be from the sun washed palette of the beach or the lines and geometry of the city. Amelia Messec was raised in a family that encouraged her to nurture her artistic abilities, inevitably leading her to pursue higher education in the arts at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. She began school in 2000 with the intention of being a Fine Arts major, but quickly changed her mind after taking a metalsmithing elective freshman year. She then went on to graduate in 2004 with BFA in Jewelry and Metalsmithing.After graduation, her first job as a bench jeweler was on the iconic and historic Jeweler’s Row in Philly.
