Ballard’s raises funds for two local charities

Thanks in part to the generosity of its guests, Ballard’s Beach Resort is thrilled to announce it has donated to two local charities impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The donations will be split evenly between Block Island Volunteer Fire & Rescue and Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation.
While admission at Ballard’s is free, guests at Ballard’s on July 5 were asked for a $10 donation at the door to help support these charities. Block Island Volunteer Fire & Rescue had to cancel its annual steak fry on July 4 — an event which typically raises enough money to support the organization throughout the year. Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation has also experienced decreased donations and has been forced to cancel several fundraisers due to the pandemic.
Ballard’s collected $4,000 in donations and resort owner Steven Filippi and his wife, Lauren, matched those funds, bringing the total donation to $8,000.
