Baseball is back at Heinz Field

On a dreamy spring Saturday afternoon, the Hurricanes High School baseball team thumped the Paul Cuffee School of Providence 11-1 before an appreciative crowd of parents, friends, and siblings who spread across the lush lawn of Heinz Field.The Hurricanes stand at 2-3 in this young season with another home game scheduled for Saturday against Times Squared Academy of Providence at 12:30 p.m.The ‘Canes are managed this year by two new faces, with first-year coaches and former Hurricane players Mason Littlefield and Tadhg O’Neill taking over the reins.Fans of the team seemed thrilled at the chance to gather outside for a relaxing couple of hours, as due to Covid last year, the team did not play. The opportunity to socialize seemed as important as the chance to root for the team.
‘Canes sophomore Sam Stockman pitched the first game of his high school career, limiting Cuffee to one run, and few runners.
