BIC suspends operations due to staffer testing positive

The following was issued by the Block Island Club this morning:
Dear BIC Members, We were just informed that a staff member who left the island on Monday has tested positive for COVID-19. The person is asymptomatic, which means they have no symptoms. Out of an abundance of caution, we will be suspending club activities tomorrow, August 6th, and that suspension will remain in effect until we receive further direction from the proper authorities.
We have been advised by the authorities that there has been a low incidence of communicability from individuals who have had an asymptomatically-positive COVID test.
The safety of our members and staff is paramount to everything we do at the Block Island Club and hopefully, we will get the go-ahead to reopen the club in the coming days.
We will pass along information as it becomes available. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Alex at [email protected] or myself at [email protected] good health,
Jason Page (President) Alex Donohoe (Manager) and the Board of Governors
