BIPCo issues storm warning

The following message was announced by BIPCo President Jeffery Wright today:

It’s going to be a wild evening tonight. Between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. we will experience the outer edges of tropical storm Isaias as the tail of the storm passes over Block Island. The storm is moving fast so it is a short duration event – which is good. Wind gusts are expected  to peak around 55 m.p.h. but there is a threat of tornadoes on the tail end of the event that we are even more worried about.

If you experience an outage or brown out, contact the power company at (401) 466-5851. The office will be staffed and our back-up call center will be ready to assist.

If you see downed wires, stay away and call us immediately.

Things will go downhill quickly starting at 4:00 p.m. so stay indoors and stay safe!  By 10:00 p.m. things will improve as quickly which will allow us to make any repairs necessary.
