Block Island tests negative for EEE again

Block Island has tested negative for the deadly mosquito-borne virus EEE once again.
Town Manager Ed Roberge informed the Town Council at its meeting Monday night that testing conducted during the week of Sept. 30 – Oct. 4 came back negative. He also noted that officials were hoping for a “killing frost” to eliminate the presence of mosquitoes on the island. Roberge continued to urge the public to take precautions by applying insect repellant, wearing long sleeve clothing and limiting activity outdoors during dusk and dawn.
