Boys Varsity rips through the Valley

On Saturday, May 5, the Block Island School Varsity Baseball team slugged their way to a 15-5 road win against the Blackstone Valley Prep Pride.
David Barillas started on the bump for the Hurricanes. Barillas consistently pounded the strike zone while shutting out the Pride for two-and-a-third innings before giving way to teammate Andrew McGarry. McGarry was superb in his two-and-two-thirds innings of relief, striking out two and not issuing a single walk.
On offense, the Hurricanes were paced by Jostin Blanco, Nick Phillips, and Sawyer Millstead, who combined to go seven for 11 with six runs scored and six runs batted en route to the mercy rule victory.
Cole McGinnes and Mathias Heinz flashed the leather defensively with several outstanding plays to thwart multiple potential BVP rallies.
