ConserFest to hold virtual event on Aug. 2

ConserFest is moving ahead this year with a virtual event on Sunday, Aug. 2.
Even though our schedule has been changed up a bit, the current situation has not lessened our commitment to the projects and organizations we support, including the Amos House, Helping Hands Food Pantry, and The Mary D. Fund.
For over a decade, ConserFest has increased awareness of the need for local environmental conservation and stewardship, and raised money to support local and national environmental groups and causes. The ConserFest Board Members meet regularly throughout the year to prepare for the summer music festival.
This year, in light of the world-wide pandemic, the ConserFest Board decided to more directly support the people in the Block Island community who have been most affected by the virus and the nationwide shutdowns of companies and businesses.
“ConserFest is what it is because of the Block Island community. After assessing several options, the Board felt that making donations to these organizations would have a direct impact on the community that we love and celebrate every year,” said Board member Scott Michel. “We plan to make additional donations, as well, and will also offer our annual ConserFest College Scholarship.”
