Covid-10 update from Dr. Warcup

The following Covid-19 update was provided by Block Island Medical Center Director Dr. Tom Warcup on Sunday, Nov. 8:

Key points from the video include:
-3 new positive COVID-19 cases identified on the island yesterday
-Likely unrelated to last week’s confirmed positive
-2 are BI School students
-Dr. Warcup met with school leadership and town leadership to discuss the situation and the school has activated it’s COVID-19 contingency plan
-The RIDOH has initiated contact tracing
-Dr. Warcup requested additional testing resources for the Island; a notice will be posted on the Bulletin Board if and when additional testing is made available
-Please be vigilant regarding mask wearing, physical distancing and hand washing.
-The next 2 weeks are crucial to minimizing the impact of these cases
-Please be mindful of Gov. Raimondo’s orders to limit social gatherings
-Unnecessary travel and social gatherings is strongly discouraged at this time
-We are all challenged by the isolation imposed by the restrictions; try to use alternative ways to stay in touch with friends and family
-Enjoy the warm weather and get outside as much
