Hennessey and Greenlee: New twists on old standards

The following was submitted by Jayme Hennessy:
Cameron Greenlee and Megan Hennessy will open the 2018 Saint Andrew Summer Concert series with new twists on jazz favorites. Come join them, on Wednesday, July 18 at 7:30 p.m. for an evening of music that will enchant and draw you into the wonder and beauty of jazz.
Greenlee, a graduate of the University of New Hampshire with a BA in keyboard performance and a piano student of the late Arlene Kies, has spent much of his career studying classical and early keyboard music on the piano, organ and harpsichord.
During his college years, he began exploring jazz, and even ventured into World and West Indian music. His classical studies later took him to the Conservatorio Superior de Toledo in Spain. Cameron has performed on five continents, and he has recorded at some of the leading studios in New York, Boston, South America, and Europe.
Hennessy earned a Masters in Voice Performance at the Boston University School for the Arts, where she specialized in the works of Verdi and Puccini.
After completing her studies, she sang primarily in Italy, as a soloist, with ensembles and regional companies. With her return to the states, she returned to her love of jazz classics with performances throughout New England. Hennessy is the music teacher at the Block Island School where she leads the band, choral, and handbell ensembles.
Their performance begins at 7:30 p.m at the St. Andrew Parish Center on Spring Street. Admission is free but donations are accepted. The Saint Andrew Concert Series is a summer tradition for over 30 years- and continues to bring talented musicians to Block Island to celebrate the beauty of music.
Future performances include Joe Parillo and Gene Rosati on Wednesday, Aug. 8 and Dennis Costa on Wednesday, Aug. 22.
