“It Occurs To Me I Am America”

The following was submitted by Susan Bush of Island Bound Bookstore:
Come hear Block Island notables read short stories from the anthology, “It Occurs To Me That I Am America,” on Thursday, July 12 at 5 p.m. at Island Bound Bookstore.
If you are an NPR Selected Shorts fan, you will want to be part of Block Island’s take on this iconic program. Hosted by Eliot Nerenberg, readers will include Barbara Trujillo, Mark Clark, Michael Chapman, Karen Duale, Jacques Boudreau, André Boudreau, and Charlie Weber. They will read stories by Julia Alvarez (“Speak! Speak!”); Susan Isaacs (“Getting Somewhere”); Gish Jen (“Mr. Crime and Punishment and War and Peace”); Richard Russo (“Top Step”); and Mary Higgins Clark (“Veterans Day”). Most people remember being read to as children, and treasure those memories. Please join us to enjoy great stories, great readers, and an experience that may evoke memories of earlier days.
Be one of the first on the Block to help establish a new tradition.
