It’s Restaurant Week

It’s about more than just the food.
Yes, Restaurant Week offers excellent two-course lunches and three-course prix-fixe dinners at about 20 of Block Island’s exceptional cafés and restaurants. But there are also complimentary sand chairs at Ballard’s Inn, discounts on moped rentals, deals at Island Bound Bookstore, tours of the 1661 Animal Farm, and much, much more.
The week will begin with the Taste of Block Island fundraiser tasting at the BIMI Center on Sunday, June 10 in New Harbor. This event, hosted by The Block Island Times, is a fundraiser for the Helping Hands food bank. The Times will also be presenting its annual Bayberry Wreath Award at the event, which this year will go to Ray Torrey for his many volunteer efforts during the past 35 years. The cost is $20, and the event is  from 4 to 6 p.m. Other events during the week include “Tequila and Tacos” at Kimberly’s, “Flaming Coffees” at the 1661 Inn, “Wine Tasting and Oysters” at The Beachead and more. Visit blockislandchamber.com to see the full list of menus, discounted rentals and events. In addition, island businesses will be offering discounted mid-week room rates, discounted bike rentals, kayak rentals, paddleboard rentals, moped rentals, car rentals, and more. It’s a great week to take advantage of all the island has to offer… even if you live here.
