July 24: Medical Center reports one new Covid-19 positive individual

COVID-19 Update from the Medical Center and Testing FAQs for July 24, 2020
This week we have seen an uptick in symptomatic individuals and received confirmation of one positive case. The COVID-19 positive individual was asymptomatic and tested at a mainland facility incidentally; the Medical Center was subsequently notified. We are working closely with the RI Department of Health (RIDOH) to perform additional testing as needed. Please be aware that RIDOH has prioritized contact tracing for this individual; public health workers will contact those at risk of exposure; please be patient. If you suspect you have been exposed now or at any time, the best course of action is to quarantine yourself and monitor your health. The RIDOH contact tracing team will assist you with testing and with monitoring your health. If you are tested, you should quarantine yourself until you receive the results and understand that a negative result does not guarantee that you will not develop symptoms. Symptoms can appear 2 to 14 days after exposure. Results are available 5 to 7 days after a nasal swab test.Extensive information is available at: https://health.ri.gov/covid/
