The Mary D. Fund is teaming up with the Block Island Rescue Squad and The Ice Cream Place to “provide a sweet treat to anyone getting vaccinated on Block Island,” says Marguerite Donnelly.Tracy Fredericks of the Rescue Squad will offer a gift certificate to those receiving the vaccine at the weekly clinic at the Fire Barn. Vaccine clinics take place every Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Those wishing to get a vaccine should schedule an appointment through the Department of Health website vaccinateri.org.Anita Gonsalves, owner of The Ice Cream Place says there have been quite a few certificates redeemed since the start of the program a couple weeksago. Each certificate is good for a small scoop of ice cream, in a bowl or on a cone. She plans to stay open until at least September 25.“It’s a Mary D. Fund community outreach.
