High School students Blaize Hatfield, Sam Stockman, and Fisher Johnston helped install the vest stations for the new Lend-a-Vest program and will be monitoring them, replenishing supplies, and sanitizing the vests regularly. The stations are located at the entrances to hiking trails throughout the island so hikers may borrow a vest to keep them safe during hunting season. This new program is a partnership between the New Shoreham Police Department, The Nature Conservancy, the Block Island Land Trust and the Mary D. Fund, which has underwritten the program.
