A moped collision with a car that happened today on Saturday, Aug. 15, on Spring Street at about 2:30 p.m. left one 22-year old male driver dead and another female passenger seriously injured, according to Rescue Squad Capt. Tracy Fredericks. The driver was a male from Cranston, Rhode Island. The passenger was flown off for medical attention, said Fredericks. This is the second fatality on Block Island in the past six days. On Sunday, Aug. 9, a 16 year old from Southport, Conn. died in a single car accident on West Side Road.
