The new owners of Island Home, a 10-room inn on Beach Avenue wish to demolish it and its accompanying accessory structure.“It’s far from restoration,” said Frank DiBiase, Jr., “representing” the owner, 585 Beach Ave LLC, at the Planning Board’s meeting on April 13, where the application for development plan review and a special use permit were up for discussion.It is the fate of many of old buildings on the island to be labeled “non-conforming” as their existence predates the current zoning ordinances that would not allow them to bebuilt in modern times. The special use permit is to “raze the existing structures on the property and to construct a new inn and accessory structure to include employee housing and professional and business (spa) services.” When asked just what “spa services”meant, DiBiase joked that he didn’t really know. “I’ve never been to a spa,” he said, adding that his son had recommended adding it as an amenity for corporate retreats.When it came time for the public hearing on May 11, DiBiase’s son, “Frankie,” said his idea was that the new inn would be: “Classy, tranquil, quiet – that’s our plan.” He hopes the inn will be open year-round and
