Primary results for Tuesday, Sept. 8

The results are in, but they are not yet complete.
 

According to Block island Town Clerk Molly Fitzpatrick, 124 registered voters went to the polls at the Block Island School gymnasium on Tuesday, Sept. 8 (with another 13 people casting emergency ballots at Town Hall). There are, however, another 115 mail-in ballots that have yet to be counted, according to Fitzpatrick.

 
The race for the Senate Seat representing Dist. 37 was unexpectedly tight. Incumbent Susan Sosnowski garnered 60 votes, and her Democratic primary challenger Maggie Kain received 47 votes in New Shoreham.
 

U.S. Rep. Jim Langevin easily bested his challenger, Dylan Conley, by a vote of 97 to 9.

 
State Rep. Blake Filippi of Dist. 36 ran unopposed.
