Gov. Gina Raimondo stated today that she will be looking at what may be a more “stringent” approach to the travel restrictions announced today by the governors of New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut, that will require people coming from states with high transmission rates to quarantine themselves for 14 days if they travel to one of those three states. Raimondo made her comments at her thrice-weekly press briefing on Wednesday, June 24. The restrictions will go into effect at midnight, June 25.
Raimondo said she felt the quarantining was a “good idea” but that she was perhaps looking at something “more stringent.”
According to the Associated Press, the states with high transmission rates include Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Washington, Utah and Texas.
When asked at the press briefing what visitors from those states should do if they have already made travel arrangements or rented hotels or a vacation home, Raimondo said that was “exactly why I didn’t join that announcement today. It is one of the things we thought about. “
Raimondo said her administration was now working with realtors who may be able to assist with testing. She was also concerned about
