The following message was issued by island resident Sue Black:
“Good news! Islanders 18 [years] or older with a commuter card can apply for the McAleer Scholarship for online [Continuing Education] classes this spring. Sign up now since classes are filling up fast!” said island resident Sue Black, who has helped offer Rhode Island School of Design classes for the Block Island community.
The Thomas McAleer Visual Arts Endowed Scholarship, in memory of the late plein air painter Thomas McAleer, will be offering online courses for Block Island residents during COVID-19.
Block Island residents can select from a wide variety of online courses, from fine arts to design. All courses are offered through Rhode Island School of Design Continuing Education Online.
Spaces for the online classes are limited, and the online classes start soon as well, running from April 27 to June 8, 2020.
To view the online classes, go to ce.risd.edu. To apply for the classes, contact RISD at [email protected] or (401) 454-6200.
