Block Island was one of only a few communities in Rhode Island to achieve blizzard status on Saturday, Jan. 29. with winds gusting into the 70s for most of the day. Due to drifting, how much snow fell was anybody’s guess, but most put the total at 18 to 24 inches, and drifts as high as 10 feet were reported.
