The Spring Street Gallery held an art fair for Block Island School students on Thursday, June 3, featuring students’ artwork. Art teacher Lisa Robb said all high school students were eligible to display artwork created in class or at home throughout the school year. Robb said they have the art fair every year, giving the students an opportunity to showcase their work in an art gallery and learn about the process. Robb said they were unable to do ceramics this year, but she still had ten participants.
One student, Holden van Lent, created a couple of stop animation movies. Robb said they built a mini studio with a green screen in the art room for the student to create the movies, each of which took about one month to create.
Most of the students’ artwork was also for sale, with some students gaining the experience of talking to potential purchasers of their art.
