This week’s message from Dr. Warcup

Masking RequirementsIf you’re not fully vaccinated, RIDOH recommends that you continue to wear a mask indoors near anyone you don’t live with and outdoors in crowded placesor during activities with close contact with other people who are not fully vaccinated.
Close contact means you’ve been within six feet of someone with COVID-19 for a total of 15 minutes or more in a 24-hour period. You’re fully vaccinated if you’ve gotten all recommended doses of a COVID-19 vaccine authorized by the US FDA or World Health Organization (WHO) and more than 14 days have passed since the final dose.RIDOH sequences variants and reports weekly. As of the July 12 reporting period, 4099 covid positive cases have been sequenced with the B1.1.7 Alpha variant, formerly the (UK) strain, and is the dominant variant (31.8 percent) in our area. The Delta variant has only been identified in 14 samples or 0.34%. Please take note that the news has been reporting out numbers per thousand versus the raw number noted above.
Our New Shoreham sewage virus surveillance has shown an uptick in detection over the last two reporting periods with levels similar to March. Our highest detection period was in November and December
