Amira Veldman-Wilson was named All Division First Team, and Chloe Weber All-Division Second Team by the Rhode Island Girls Volleyball Coaches’ Association last week for their roles as outside hitters for the Block Island Hurricanes. The honors, as voted upon by all of the coaches, were announced by Rhode Island Interscholastic League officials.
After an up-and-down start to the season with so many new and younger players joining the team, the girls led the Hurricanes to seven wins in a row at the culmination of the year, only to lose a heartbreaker at Middletown in the state semifinals.
