Upcoming events for seniors

A sweet time: The Senior Advisory Committee is planning a repeat of last year’s “Just Desserts” social. The event will be on Wed. March 4, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Community Center. Committee members are contacting island food artisans for a variety of delectable desserts. Coffee, tea and cold drinks will be served.
“There were some amazing choices last year,” committee member Jennifer Phillips said at the Feb. 18 meeting. “It was a dangerous room to be in.”
Successful Senior Social: The Island Free Library held its first Senior Social in late January, a new program supported by the SAC as a way to reach out to older residents and to give their caregivers some respite.
The next Senior Social will be on Thursday, Feb. 27 at 11 a.m. at the library. Seniors, friends, and caregivers are all welcome to enjoy a time of community, an activity (such as exercise and games) and  a light lunch.
