Dr. Tom Warcup’s Update

Data for 2020 revealed the Block Island Medical Center saw just under 7,000 patients, which is a 4.3 percent increase over 2019. Dr. Warcup appreciates the efforts of the Block Island Medical staff and the EMS involved. 
Covid Cases
There have been three additional positive tests in the past seven days, contained to a family unit. The Department of Health has been notified and contract tracing has begun. There has been no additional spread beyond the family unit, that they are aware of. 
Covid Vaccines
Recently notified that the second allocation of the 70 doses will be released to the Block Island Medical Center the week of January 25th, on schedule. For those who have received the initial vaccination from the B.I. Medical Center, will be notified by their team members regarding their second dose.
The Department of Health recently inquired about members of the community older than 75 years of age. After going through the electronic health records, the Medical Center has requested 470 Moderna vaccines. These vaccines should cover the essential personnel on the island, as well
