After holding two events presenting the work of the Energy Transitions Initiative Partnership Program (ETIPP), the Block Island Utility District (BIUD) provided an update at their monthly meeting of the Board of Commissioners on February 22. The ETIPP program is a non-monetary technical grant from the U.S. Department of Energy to assist the island in building energy resiliency.At both ETIPP events, attendees presented both questions and ideas to the ETIPP partners, Jamie Cook of the Island Institute (participating virtually at a recent Sea Level Rise meeting), and Peter Cappers of the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (National Labs), accompanied by Brenna Cohen of the Island Institute.Jeffery Wright, president of the BIUD, stated that he had just received the scope of work and explained that “National Labs are going to focus on what are our main issues, which are integration of renewables, reliability, and resiliency after the cable goes out, so we’re going to look at that.
