The Zoning Board held public hearings, but made no decisions, on variance requests for two homes at its virtual meeting on March 3. The Board also approved the town’s requests relating to a new walkway at Andy’s Way, and one other application.
In the first hearing, Pam Piper and Anna Pearce explained they were seeking a variance for construction of a bathroom, a bay window, outdoor shower, and a shed dormer for a small house off Lakeside Drive (Plat 11, Lot 43) that they had purchased with their spouses in 2020.
Architect Tracey Dillon called the property “this little gem of a house on Lakeside Drive – a coming home to Block Island: that place where family members from far-away places will travel to be together, to gather.”
“Pam and Anna respect the historic style and scale of the house and don’t want to make big or jarring changes,” Dillon continued. She described the plans as “primarily working within the existing footprint with small additions and dormers… to add a half bath on the first floor; and on the second floor, a main bedroom suite with bathroom and shared hallway bathroom.”
