John Formica really didn’t retire in 2019, at least not from personal challenges. Having raised, over his professional career as an accountant, almost $1 million for multiple sclerosis, he wheeled his way over to the PANMass challenge where he’ll head out this Saturday on the start of a two-day race covering 160 miles from west of Boston all the way out to Provincetown, raising money for Dana Farber, pediatric cancer and cancer research.The Pan-Mass challenge is a Massachusetts-based bike-a-thon that raises more money than any other single athletic fundraising event in the country, with every penny going to Dana Farber. Formica is hoping that local families touched in some way by the disease will support him with pledges.Last year he raised $32,000 and he’s hoping to surpass that this year.
