The Spring Street Gallery will host an art exhibit by island resident Jane Emsbo from July 10 to July 17. There will be an artist’sreception at the gallery on Saturday, July 10 from 5 to 7 p.m. All are welcome and refreshments will be served.
Emsbo’s abstract paintings are bold and expressive. Done in multimedia of all sorts, the unexpected is welcomed. Color, movement, and drama are paramount. Jane has exhibited and been a member at the Spring Street Gallery before. She has also been a founding member of Scenic Block Island – dedicated to preserving the beauty and heritage of the island.
In keeping with Emsbo’s varied interests and passions, music and poetry will also enliven the reception and offer a multi-sensory experience. Background music will play songs from her You Tube selection of “grandma’s songs rosie prince.” These songs have been part of informal sing-a-longs on Block Island that Emsbo loves to organize.
The Block Island Poetry Project, under the inspiration of Lisa Starr, spurred Emsbo’s intensive writing – some of which waits to be finished. Poetry from her book “Pinto Ponies” will be available at the exhibit. “Pinto Ponies is also available at Island Bound
