Ballard’s applies for CRMC assents

Ballard’s Inn Realty LLC has applied to the Rhode Island Coastal Resources Management Council for permission to have temporary “mobile” structures on the beach at the facility during the summer season and is requesting that a beach perimeter be established for their location. The CRMC cited the beachside venue in September for several violations in the wake of events there that got out of control on August 8, Victory Day in Rhode Island. The full application, obtained by The Block Island Times, includes a letter from Natural Resource Services, Inc., which says it has been retained by Ballard’s to assist with the preparation and submission of the application. The memo, signed by Biologist Scott Rabideau, states: “Currently Ballard’s uses mobile structures which are 8 feet wide and 20 feet long as self-contained bars. The application requests permission to allow the facility to disperse up to four (4) of these mobile structures within the established perimeter limit during the resort’s operating season. In addition to the four mobile structures, Ballard’s is also seeking permission to use a portable stage, no larger than 1,000 square feetin size, during the same timeframe.”In the CRMC’s permit database, the application is dated December 5
