Covid-19 update from Medical Center

The following Covid-19 update was provided by the Block Island Medical Center on Monday, Nov. 16:
Dear Block Island Community:
Today Block Island saw its 20th COVID-19 case. This number represents the total cases we have had since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, since November 1st, we have had a particularly active period with 8 NEW cases.
Rhode Island as a whole is also experiencing an increase in COVID-19 cases. Yesterday alone, RI testing centers did over 6,000 tests with a 7.2% positivity rate. There were 13 COVID-19 related deaths over the weekend.
It is vital that we resist pandemic fatigue and remain vigilant. This means wearing our masks, maintaining social distance, holding off from social gatherings, and practicing diligent hand hygiene. Keep in mind that even small social gatherings are a vulnerability, so be safe.
Block Island Testing Options
Tuesdays 12-1pm: Asymptomatic walk-up testing. Keep in mind that this testing is not for individuals with symptoms. If you are experiencing symptoms of any kind, please call the medical center.
Thursdays: Asymptomatic testing is available by the DOH DMAT team. Time is subject to weather and boat/plane schedule. Testing spots open 5 days before testing date
