Interstate to reduce boat schedule

With travel from the mainland to the island expected to decrease due to restrictions mandated by an emergency ordinance the Town Council enacted on March 23, and to address the concerns of Dr. Mark Clark about keeping the island as isolated as possible, Interstate Navigation will reduce the number of boat trips beginning Saturday, March 28.
After a meeting held on Wednesday, March 25, Interstate’s Director of Security Bill McCombe said there will be one boat trip in each direction on Sundays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
On Mondays and Thursdays there will be two boats going in each direction.
The times of the boats, starting the week of Sunday, March 29, will be 9 a.m. and 2:15 p.m. from Pt. Judith and 10:45 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. from Block Island on Mondays and Thursdays. For the other five days a week — Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, there will be one boat leaving Pt. Judith at 11 a.m. and a 2:30 p.m. boat leaving Block Island. This schedule will remain in place until April 15, 2020.
