Jan Wampler exhibit at Spring Street Gallery

Jan Wampler has exhibited his paintings at Spring Street Gallery for the last three years. An internationally known architect, he has practiced in Asia, South America, and the UnitedStates. He has received numerous awards for his designs and is currently working on projects in Haiti and China.Jan has written two books, “All Their Own” and “Notes for Young Architects,” both available on Amazon or at local bookstores. He has taught architecture at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology for over 45 years and was recently a guest professor at the University of South Florida for one semester per year.He built a house on Block Island that he designed 35 years ago. He has designed several other projects for Block Island as well.Jan started painting again three years ago. He first painted at the Rhode Island School of Design, where he was a student of architecture before attaining his master’s degree in architecture from the Harvard Graduate School of Design. When he started to paint again, he was amazed how well he could tell whether or not the painting was good in a short time, whereas with architecture one must wait at least three years. This makes painting very rewarding
