I am extremely proud to be the Town of New Shoreham’s first-ever female Harbormaster, in a traditionally male-dominated profession. I am also very proud of my entire staff, which this year especially, is represented in each sector by strong female leadership. As a 15 year old in the employment of the Harbors Department, I am elated to be contributing to the help needed to manage the Harbors. My name is Alexandra Elwell, born and raised in New York City, and I have been a long-time visitor to the shores of Block Island in the summertime as my family has been visiting the island for 63 years.
