Pop Up Show with Powers and Padien

The Spring Street Gallery is excited to offer a pop-up art opening with Gallery member Jerry Powers and our friend Bill Padien with their new paintings.
The joint show will open with a reception on Saturday Sept. 26 from 5 to 7 p.m., with refreshments available. Please be sure to wear your mask and heed social distancing measures. We look forward to seeing everyone for this fun event.
Powers’ show is devoted to a series depicting what the artist calls “beach seeps,” intermittent flows of water from the base of the bluffs at Vaill Beach. The paintings range in size from 5” x 7” to 30” x 40” and use acrylics, oils, and mylar in the artist’s efforts to capture the beauty and weirdness of this unique Block Island phenomenon.
“At this time of social distancing, I’ve been comforted by the feel of a stiff brush dragged over and against the tooth of a primed canvas,” said Powers. “Turning this experience into an expression of thoughts and feelings can be a challenge, but the personal rewards are great.”
