Quarters against corona campaign begins

The following was submitted by Island Bound Bookstore:
Islanders and visitors to Block Island will soon see donation boxes asking for quarters to benefit the Block Island Medical Center and the Block Island Rescue Squad.
Inspired by the March of Dimes campaign, where people from all over the United States sent their dimes to help find a cure for polio, Quarters Against Corona is asking every Block Island resident and visitor to do their part to support our front line health care professionals.
Karen Duale, who is spearheading the campaign, stated that “Everybody can give. Keep your change and ‘loose bills’ and stuff our boxes. A good cause in a difficult time.”
Look for the acrylic boxes around the island. We can all learn from the original March of Dimes campaign of 1938 that all it takes is everyone pitching in to help.
Special thanks to the Chamber of Commerce for the donated boxes and Melinda Marye-Kelly for the graphics design.
