Recreational volleyball wraps up the summer with fun

The 2021 beach volleyball season came to a close Wednesday on a picture-perfect afternoon according to Recreation Director Dave Sniffen. The popular league, which has grown over the years, had eight teams consisting of between four and eight players, with only four allowed to play at a time. The final day was a celebration and quasi-party for many with some returning to college, some heading off for the first time, and other seasoned veterans using their experience to capture the crown. The all-day athletic and social event had seven teams competing due to some kids having already left. The double-elimination tournament ended with LHT, made of all Block Islanders taking the crown from China Dawgs.
The final seasons standings had #1 Special Volleyball Unit (SVU) coming in first, followed in order by LHT, The Oar, China Dawgs, ODB’s, Tip Top Taxi and last, but having just as much fun as anyone else, Hot Shots.
