Storm update from BI Power and Interstate Navigation

As of 9 a.m. this morning the Block Island Power Company reports just two customers without power and those should be restored by 11 a.m. Workers are waiting for the winds to die down a bit to stay safe.
BIPCo President Jeffery Wright reports that the mainland grid “is in tough shape and we are just hoping that the cable stays on for our benefit. If not, we are ready to start generators. The storm is slowly pulling away to the east but the winds will gust over 50 all day long and into the night. Just a quick reminder to report any downed lines, broken poles or other concerns immediately to us at (401) 466-5851. Also report any power outages that you experience.”
Interstate Navigation has canceled all ferries for today, Wed. October 27 due to adverse sea conditions.
