‘Pop-Up Storytime’ debuts

With the sun shining brightly, and some toddlers watching her every word, Morgan Walsh, the Island Free Library’s Youth Services Librarian, read from books, sang some songs, and danced while hosting her first “Read Around the Block” summer “Pop-Up Storytime” event at The Darius Inn on June 29.
At the conclusion of the event, Walsh sang: “Thank you for coming to story time — have a good day.” Children who attended the event were invited to take a book home with them. If they collect four stamps, meaning that they have attended four events, they are eligible to receive a special surprise from the library.
Afterwards, Walsh told The Block Island Times that she was “excited,” and “happy” about hosting the event. She was also “very grateful” for the assistance provided by Jamie Newell, the library’s Circulation Clerk.
Walsh will visit different locales every Friday at 11 a.m. during the summer for the event, including: Fred Benson Town Beach (Corn Neck Road – July 20), Abrams Animal Farm (Spring Street – August 3), Southeast Lighthouse (Mohegan Trail – August 10), Island Bound Bookstore (Water Street – August 24), and at McAloon’s Restaurant (Corn Neck Road – August 31).
