“Ebb and flow” is the rhythmic change of the ocean tides. A change that is responsible for producing the exquisite beauty of a cresting wave glistening with sunlight and the endless deposit of treasures along our shores. Kate Bird and Lisa Robb have captured the splendor of the ocean’s ebb and flow in their paintings being exhibited at The Spring Street Gallery from Friday, Aug. 3 to the Monday, Aug. 13. An opening reception will be held on Saturday, Aug. 4 from 5 to 7 p.m.
Kate Bird is known for her iconic images of clam and oyster shells. She has mastered recreating these modest shells with stunning layers of colors and precise details that have the viewer mesmerized by their complex beauty.
Lisa Robb’s paintings illustrate the stunning beauty and power of the ocean itself. She has strived to capture the intensity of our ocean waves shimmering with a rainbow of sunlight. But her painting style has an ebb and flow of its own. Along with her more traditional paintings, she has included pieces where she has experimented with new techniques and materials to capture further elements of our surrounding ocean.
Bird and Robb are both active members of the Spring Street Gallery, a cooperative non-profit gallery located behind the Harbor Church across from the Manisses Hotel. The gallery is open daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Artwork purchases in Rhode Island are tax-free.
